NHL Great Jeremy Roenick Mansion With Baseball Field

Jeremy Roenick scored 513 goals over the course of his Hall of Fame pro hockey career, but it appears the NHL legend has traded his hockey stick for a baseball bat in his retirement.

Roenick is selling his massive mansion in North Scottsdale, AZ, and with it his personal “Field of Dreams.” No, not a cornfield in Iowa, but a private baseball diamond that will have you thinking it’s spring training year-round.

Roenick apparently took a shine to the arid Arizona desert during a five-year stint with the Phoenix Coyotes from 1996-2001. The legendary center paid $3.8 million for the 10,000-square-foot property in 2005 — four years after departingPhoenix for Philadelphia. The compound originally hit the market in 2012 with a price tag of $11.7 million. But it looks like Roenick has tempered his expectations this time around — the trophy home now lists for $8.5 million.

Occupying nearly 19 acres outside of Pinnacle Peak, the Southwestern-style home offers plenty of room to move with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Standout amenities include not one, but two master suites, a giant wine cellar, a stately office and an amazing poker room and wet bar that looks like a prime place for a championship celebration.

Outside, the home further indulges in all things leisure with a pool and spa, a putting green and the aforementioned baseball field, complete with its own fences. And we’d be remiss not to mention the 2,000-square-foot detached guest house, which hardly seems like a guest house considering that it has a full-size kitchen, formal living areas and its own four-car garage.

Roenick, 44, played with the Chicago Blackhawks, Coyotes, Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks before retiring in 2009. Over the course of 18 seasons, he earned nine NHL All-Star nods and is one of three American-born players, the other two being Joe Mullen and Mike Modano, to score 500 more goals in his NHL career.

WITH these sort of rock star prices tags, it's little wonder celebrity homes can take years to sell, such as rapper 50 Cent's mansion which has been on the market since 2007. Then again, with pockets as deep as the owners of these homes, the world famous vendors can afford to ride out the wait.
