The fine folks at Zillow Blog reported back on September 6, 2013, that Alice In Chains Guitarist Jerry Cantrell sold his Studio City home for $1.45 million on September 3, 2013 after first being listed on June 10, 2013 for $1,495,000.

The home measures 3 Beds/2 Baths on 2,151 sqft on a total lot size of 0.26 acres built in 1936. The listing description states:
Walled and gated Spanish gem in prime Studio City, South of Ventura Blvd. Private entrance with long driveway to 2-car garage and charming front courtyard with lawn and garden. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Open floor plan ideal for indoor and outdoor entertaining. Sonos sound system throughout the property, equipped with security cameras in all the right places. The beautiful backyard offers a tranquil setting featuring mature landscaping, pool, spa, covered BBQ area, tiled patios for a variety of sitting areas, and guesthouse with bath.
The home was last purchased on July 1, 2005 for $1,245,000 netting a profit of $205K before expenses which is pretty good considering Cantrell purchased near the top of the market.  It appears that Cantrell is leaving the SFV for good as The Zillow Blog is reporting that Cantrell is returning to his home roots in Washington state where he just purchased a home in Burien, WA for $1.35 million in March 2012.

Celeb R.E.: That 70's Show Creator, Mark Brazill, Flips Burbank Spanish Home

Images courtesy Teles Properties
Back on August 7, 2013, the fine folks at Zillow Blog revealed That 70's Show creator, Mark Brazill, listed his Burbank Spanish equestrian estate on August 2, 2013 for $1,249,000 which was quickly sold on August 23, 2013 for $1,200,000. Brazill originally purchased this property on June 27, 2011 for $860,000 translating into a profit of $389,000 before expenses which may have been easily evaporated considering that the listing states that over $300,000 was spent in renovations. On a side note, Brazill has become infamous for a heated email between Judd Apatow that was published in the March 2002 edition of Harper's magazine that is hilarious.

The home measures 3 Beds/1.75 Baths on 2,628 sqft on a total lot size of 0.29 acres built in 1937. The listing description states:
Paradise found in this emotional majestic Spanish estate. Perched up on a knoll, this extremely private home welcomes you to step back in time while enjoying all the modern amenities expected in a luxury home. Stunning living room with exposed beam cathedral ceiling, grand fireplace & narrow plank oak floors. Romantic master bedroom suite features 2 walk in closets, fireplace & French doors opening to backyard. Designer kitchen with Athens Grey marble counters, high end Miele appliances and custom cabinets all opening to dining area ? ideal for entertaining. French doors lead to brick patio underneath the canopy of a massive stately oak tree. Steps beyond is the deep pool and jacuzzi. Lushly landscaped expansive back yard. Detached art studio (inc. in sq footage) connected by a breezeway to the main house. 3 stalls plus a turnout for your horses. 2 car attached garage. Two years & over $300,000 spent on restoring this grand dame to glory. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident in every room and throughout the property. Tucked into the highly desirable Rancho Equestrian District, located ? block to the trails to Griffith Park and the Equestrian Center yet minutes to the studios, blue ribbon Burbank schools & LILA private school.
Brazill is something of a serial real estate buyers has he has owned other homes in the SFV and beyond listed below (its also possible I missed some properties).

A 3 Bed/1 Bath on 1,710 sqft home on a total lot size of 9,215 sqft built in 1930 at 4340 Ponca Avenue Toluca Lake (shown above). If I am reading the property history correctly, it appears that Brazill purchased on July 3, 2001 for $1,169,000 and sold for $1,649,000 on April 1, 2005. So this is where it gets weird as it also appears that Brazill re-purchased this property for $1,851,000 on March 29, 2006 but sold 2 months later for $1,875,000 on June 22, 2006 which doesnt make sense but you never know, could have actually happened this way.

A 4 Bed/6 Bath on 5,292 sqft on a total lot size of 0.40 acres built in 1971 at 4250 Navajo Avenue Toluca Lake (shown above). This home was purchased for $2,910,000 on June 27, 2006 and sold at a $60,000 loss on February 12, 2008 for $2,850,000.

A 4 Bed/4 Bath on 4,926 sqft on a total lot size of 0.55 acres built in 1928 at 2566 Aberdeen Avenue Los Feliz (shown above). This home was purchased for $4,795,000 on April 26, 2007 and sold a year later for $3,995,000 on October 15, 2008 representing an $800,000 loss. Yes, $800k!

A 4 Bed/4 Bath on 2,938 sqft on a total lot size of 5,852 sqft built in 1928 at 3245 Primera Avenue Hollywood Hills (shown above). The property records for this home are a bit conflicting but it appears that Brazill purchased sometime in the late 90's for an unknown amount and later sold on June 27, 2001 for $725,000. Dont quote me on this one because there are so many conflicting information.

So where is Mark Brazill heading to next?

Celeb R.E.: Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek and Genie Francis From General Hospital Move to Woodland Hills

Images courtesy Ewing & Associates Sotheby's International Realty
On August 14, 2013, the fine folks at Zillow Blog discussed a Woodland Hills home purchase by Star Trek actor Jonathan Frakes and his actress wife Genie Francis from soap opera General Hospital for an even steven $1 million on August 2, 2013.

Frakes and Francis first met while filming the television series Bare Essence. They met again during the filming of the miniseries North and South and started dating in 1985. The became engaged in 1986 and married on May 28, 1988.

The home measures 3 Beds/2.25 Baths on 2,035 sqft on a total lot size of 0.60 acres built in 1941. The listing description states:
A serene retreat in the middle of suburbia, hedged, gated and private. Park-like grounds surround this quaint remodeled Vista De Oro ranch house in one of Woodland Hills most desirable neighborhoods. Enjoy nearly an acre of flat property accented by an antique barn and adjacent one of the last standing orange groves in the San Fernando Valley. This large property is a true escape from city-life. The charming main house was originally custom built in the 1930?s, the interior featuring 3 bedrooms and 2 ? baths. The gorgeous master bedroom overlooks the beautiful landscaping and includes a spa-like bathroom with walk-in closet, tub and steam shower to help you unwind after a long day. Wood-burning fireplaces create warmth in the family room as well as one of the bedrooms, which is currently being used as an artist?s studio. Rich wood floors throughout and beamed ceilings in the living room add to the comfortable country setting; while French doors in the den allow you to enjoy the sweet breeze and fresh garden aromas inside and out. This inviting property also includes a spacious detached work or entertainment space adjacent to the 2 car garage, as well as extra acreage to build. Experience this remarkable find for yourself and imagine the possibilities.

Francis/Frakes also own a Beverly Crest home that was purchased on September 28, 1994 for $1.5 million and appears to still be owned by them but not sure in what capacity which could be an investment property or simply as a second home.

At some point in time, this Hollywood couple moved to Belfast, Maine where Francis owned a store called The Cherished Home which sold home furnishings and accessories. In 2008, the couple moved back to CA to focus on their acting careers living in Beverly Hills which I am assuming was their Beverly Crest home and then renting a home in Calabasas possibly at 4218 Vicasa Drive but I cannot confirm so dont quote me. Its also possible that Francis/Frakes rented a Tarzana home at some point on 5062 Calvin Avenue but I cannot confirm so dont quote me. The Cherished Home store was sold in the fall of 2012 due to Francis' workload with the soap opera, The Young and the Restless.

On a somewhat related note, I can confirm that Francis's mother, Rosemary Daley, owns a modest 2 Bed/1 Bath on 1,185 sqft home in Valley Glen that was purchased on January 12, 1993 for $120,000. The online property records are rather conflicting as another website states that Genie sold the home to Rosemary for $150,000 on August 16, 2001. I doubt Genie sold a home to her mother but you never know these days.
