There are several of these homes on this street designed by the renowned architect Richard Neutra with William Beckett and are known as the Stone-Fisher Speculative Platform houses. In addition to this home, Neutra has designed numerous homes in the SFV (as well as the world) discussed on this blog with one of his most notable being demolished in the 70's which was the Josef Von Sternberg house in Northridge. A similar home last sold on September 3, 2010 for $920,000 at 3737 Oakfield Drive. Currently, there is a similar home down at 3733 with an original asking price of $899,000 that was reduced to $800,000 and has been on the market since November 7, 2012 so it will be interesting to see who sells first and at what asking price.
The listing description states:

Perched above Sherman Oaks and seconds from Bel-Air, this pavilion-in-the-sky is ideal for anyone desiring to live in a modern environment steeped in design history.
